The year 2009 marks the 59th anniversary of Barett & Gould, Inc., a third generation family-owned and operated business. Located in a modern 45,000 sq. ft. facility in Hillsboro, NH, the company's history can be traced to Lynn, MA, in the 1930's. Louis Barett, a Russian immigrant, started a manufacturing business on the first floor of his home. His oldest daughter, Ethel, married Howard Gould and formed a partnership that represents the foundation for the business today.

The original business evolved into a thriving metal stamping and manufacturing company and relocated to Windham, New Hampshire, in the 1950's. Continued growth necessitated a move to a larger facility in the Nashua Millyard. The business continued to grow in Nashua for 37 years prior to its most recent move in 1998 to Hillsboro, NH.

Barett & Gould first manufactured a diverse group of products such as umbrella frames, cake pans and jingle bells. The quality of their work was recognized by Western Electric and B&G began producing components for telephone switching and transmission equipment. Lucent Technologies — a successor to Western Electric — remains a customer of B&G some 50 years later.

As the customer base expanded, so too did Barett & Gould's capabilities and experience. B&G now serves the automotive, computer, appliance, electronic, hardware and machine tool industries, to name a few.

Barett & Gould is unique as a "one stop shop" for precision metal fabrications and stampings, powder coating, silk screening assembly, packaging and other value added services. The company's strength lies in its ability to collaborate in partnership with its customers, from concept to design to volume manufacturing.

The current president, Robert Gould, is the grandson of the original owner. In his 20 years as owner, Bob has taken the business beyond metal stamping and fabrication to a complete contract manufacturing service. The company's prosperity can be attributed to the foundation established by Louis Barett and Howard and Ethel Gould, back when integrity and hard work were the norm and customer satisfaction meant everything.
